I posted the following message, today, on the Cherokee Pilot's Bulletin Board:
"For those of you interested in putting the Alpha Industries shoulder harness kit in your airplane, here is my experience with the installation. I installed their retractable harnesses for the front 2 seating positions in my Arrow. If you can drill and rivet, it's an easy assembly. The kit is complete, and the photos on their website illustrate how simple the work will be...and it is. Be patient with your drilling (correct bit size) and cleaning the holes carefully (hand ream with a larger bit). I was concerned about the headliner removal but it was a non-event. Remove the metal "hoops", window liners and just enough of the headliner to get to the work area. You can do this without removing the speaker/light assembly in the roof. My headliner had been attached with the yellow 3M weather strip adhesive and it came loose with gentle pulling. I used the same glue to re-attach. Match up the screw holes through your liner....combine this with a little patience, and the headliner goes right back into place. I put about 17 hours into the entire project but I'm a perfectionist. Got a "no problem" sign-off by my A&P. My first flight after the installation lasted 2 hours and I forgot that I had the harness on....they are very comfortable! I had read about deaths in survivable crashes in airplanes without harnesses but put off this installation due to concerns with the perceived difficulty of the install. This should not be a concern if you are comfortable with tools and patient. I found the project to be fun and the result yields a much safer airplane. I highly recommend the Alpha Industries kit whether you or your A&P do the work."
I installed your kit about a month ago and was pleased with the quality of the parts and instructions. My message above says it all. Thanks for providing a great upgrade for my Arrow! Chuck Flynn N4689J Helena, Montana
